Space + Art

Space is a concept that has always caught my eye in some way especially as it can be considered art in every aspect. The first two events I had the chance to take part in were about cosmological elements, including all of the detectable components in the sky, such as stars. I did not know much about things related to space but my eyes were opened through the art pieces I was shown. The art pieces showed a wide array of images and concepts that seemed out of this world. It showed how the science of studying space can be turned or shown in a way that expresses it as art. An example of this is one of the photos during the second event showing the trajectory of orbit. It showed an amazing image representing the science behind objects orbiting around a planet.

The moon landing video is another example that intrigues me connecting space and art. There have been many conspiracies about if the moon landing video was real or not. The film of the first lunar landing was a big step in human innovation as well as a widely known piece of art. It showed that amazing improvements in human evolution can be spectacular in making art.

Space overall has so many wonders that people constantly study it which in turn creates artworks such as a bonsai tree being launched into orbit. The bonsai tree was launched into orbit and stayed there for a few days to see the effects of how the plant would react to being stuck in orbit.

  1. I have always thought space exploration and the technology behind space research had the ability to produce beautiful imagery that peaks our curiosity and enhances our imagination for what could be out there in the galaxy. As shown in your image above, we can even see simply tracing the trajectory of a star or planet in orbit can create an extremely unique image. Another example like the moon landing has influenced a lot of the media we see today. The big white astronaut suits, the flag on the moon, and space station radio communications are all highlighted in TV shows and movies based on exploring space. Again we see science and art having a strong relationship to eachother.
